Kaizen is a Japanese term known as a system of continuous improvement. It includes everyone from the highest management positions to shop floor workers. Kaizen is a comprised of employees working toward a specific challenge. During the implementation of Kaizen employees are generally brainstorming ways to improve their quality, technology, processes, productivity, safety and leadership. These ideas are to be implemented into lean manufacturing within a week and no later than a month’s time frame.
During lean manufacturing the common interest is in boosting production and overall efficiency. Manufactures key focus is to eliminate waste and to improve on finished goods, demand, reduce inventories and raw material usage. The end result is lower costs and the ability to respond more quickly to market changes.
To implement lean manufacturing software you do not have to encumber your company with a kaizen overhaul. Instead the two will work hand-in-hand to become more profitable and competitive. Companies will have shortened lead times, a reduction in inventory and notice a reduction in operating costs. These lean processes are used in conjunction with the kaizen ideas formulated by the staff and are reported in simple reporting and corrective actions interfaces designed to provide feedback to the team on the floor. After all, they usually are the group who are really in a position to make a difference.
Kaizen is one of the best concepts to really involve employees in the business and help them to feel part of the reason for the success of the business and the lean manufacturing system. Tuppas software is a great vendor to take a look at. Their specialization is tailored software systems and is good at creating reporting systems that will adapt to the culture of the plant.
