How efficient is your production? Which employees are the most productive? Which products run best on your equipment? If you are unsure of the answers to any of these questions, your company would benefit from Production Efficiency Software.
In order to truly succeed at tracking production efficiency, one needs to collect data. In most cases this means the system needs data entry screens that allow users to input relevant data that is later compiled and compared to production standards. Sometimes data is collected through automation, for example: PLCs, scales, scanners, micrometers, etc. Either way, the database that holds this information should be structured to store the data so that it can be filtered and retrieved for analysis.
Tracking production efficiency may seem like it should be simple, but depending on the complexity of a company’s operations, gathering and analyzing real-time production data may be difficult. Most software systems are too simple to perform the proper calculations or too confusing to use.
One type of software is generic, “off-the-shelf” software. This type of software works for some, but is often too rigid to accurately track and calculate production efficiency. Software that is designed to be configurable allows for a user friendly interface with all the necessary calculations to track production efficiency effectively. Unfortunately extremely flexible software is not common and custom software is almost impossible to upgrade.
